February catch up

There is so much to talk about I don’t know where to begin!
1) New York fashion week kicked off this week and there are plenty of shows, street styles images and presentations to catch up on.
My favourites so far are;
- ICB - beautiful palette/ pop of colour /creative knitwear draping.
- Jason Wu – Khaki one of my favourite colours/ that side slit / the fur combinations.
- Kate Spade NY – always in my top 10, I love the creativity every season
- Kanye West x Adidas Originals – forever my number 1. One of my biggest influencers from day 1, more so after I stepped into his studio in 2013. One of the most misunderstood creatives I know.
- Red Valentino – black and white check/ embroidery on the skirt
That’s all I have managed to catch up on so far, but I plan to spend the rest of Sunday scanning more shows and collections.
2) Two days in Lisbon, I narrowed down my guide on where to go and what to see with limited time. Will post mid week!
3) Valentines shmalentines, Im not against the whole February 14th concept, I do enjoy seeing people happy and all lovey dovey. I just don’t like the idea of pinning it all down on that one day. I am fortunate enough to be in a relationship exciting enough to feel like valentines everyday. One day shouldn’t be the only day you show people you love how much you love them. Its valentines everyday baby!
4) Lastly, lets talk this look! I was pinning away in my lunch break one day, and had an urge to shoot something black and white, something moody, something with flowers and clean backgrounds.
So naturally I planned, prepared and shot. My jewels and gems are by the wonderful Ottoman Hands, the black and white doesn’t show the gems true beauty, but each stone is hand picked and naturally unique. It’s best to visit one of their concessions to see the gems up close to see what I mean!
Keeping the background simple I wanted to work with clean shapes, I know the style and silhouette that suit my figure and I tend to run with them, recognise this lace top? Sure you do, I wore the black colour way last summer!
Know your bodies’ strengths, highlight them and embrace them; love the body you are in ☺
We don’t usually shoot with props, but with all the roses and flowers flying around for Valentines we decided to have some fun with it.

Dreams

What do you do when you have a dream? A dream that itches you when you take a little time out, a dream that wakes you up in the middle of the night, a dream that does not let you rest till you achieve it.
You work, work and work some more. My whole life I have never mentally rested, I am forever creating new projects for myself, setting personal goals, creating book ideas, designing poster collections, you name it, I’ve most probably had a crack at it. But as I am getting older one thing I’m sure about is, I am passionate about what I do. My style has developed over the years and I am now starting to pave my path; through this blog, through networking and through growing up and finding out whom I really am.
Being a British born Indian I am drawn to everything remotely close to my roots, I love my culture and what it holds. I have always celebrated its fashion, food, land, rituals and traditions; it is part of my upbringing and me.
Art is a field I have always excelled in; from a young age pen and pencil were my weapon of choice. (I drew a bunch of clothing hangers under my parents kitchen table when I was 3 – proof that fashion and illustration were in my DNA from my toddler days!)
I have refined my craft through studying at college and university; my personal style has developed in front of many as I have posted my trials and tribulations on social media.
I can now proudly show you what I have been working on and where my art skills will be heading for the foreseeable future.

I have a dear friend of 11 years, who is part of an amazing couture jewellery house Jazzy Bindi. I have watched this company grow from strength to strength. Their attention to detail, quality and love for bespoke design has endlessly inspired me, sparking the idea to illustrate the Jazzy Bindi Bride.
Since getting married two years ago, I realised the wedding industry has rapidly advanced and this one time celebration is growing into tremendous entertainment feats for all to enjoy. One thing I remember specifically was the battle of trying to keep things personal and true to myself. A very challenging task, when families and cultural opinions are involved.
That is where I feel these illustrations step in; not for the show, not for anyone’s approval but a personal bespoke art piece for the bride on her memorable day.
I am extremely passionate about this style of art, I understand first-hand how much preparation goes into making this look perfect and I love illustrating all the detail, designs and beauty.

Colour co-ords

How to not feel all alone in a city you know no one in? Go to a park full of locals, tourists, children and dog walkers, sit on the bench and soak up the atmosphere. You are sure to catch a smile and meet some friendly folk to mingle with. Or put a shout out on Instagram, the locals are very proud of their city and are more than happy to show you around/ recommend a few things you could do when visiting.
This was one of the busiest walkways we came across in Lisbon, situated just outside the Myraid by Sana hotel; it was buzzing under the Winter sun.
We were actually making our way to the marina to see the boats, but I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to pose on these colourful benches!
I have held on to my love for co-ordinates from 2014 (previously worn here) and found this cute ensemble to wear; the loose fit trousers with matching boat print shell top. The ease of wearing such a relaxed outfit made traveling a joy and I felt so comfortable, which was perfect as we were out and about for nearly 12 hours! I am in the middle of putting together a post of exactly what we did in Lisbon with bits and bobs I would recommend for you to see. Stay tuned ☺

Basilica da Estrela

Basilica da Estrela is one of Lisbon’s prettiest churches we had the pleasure of shooting on the rooftop with the rococo dome as a stunning backdrop. With the sun high in the sky this viewpoint was worth the climb (a fair amount of stairs to get to the top!)
Sometimes a city can leave a lasting impression on you for various reasons, in Lisbon this was one of the most memorable spots for me. It was so peaceful, energising and made me realise we were truely living the life we loved.
I read a quote recently that stuck with me, ‘what we all want in life, to travel, fall in love and be happy.’
And for 2015 that is my mantra, January you were perfect, February lets see what you have in store for us!

Good Morning

Good morning everyone, February already!? Where did January go? I don’t usually share food pictures but the breakfasts we had in Lisbon were heavenly. We absolutely maxed out at every food counter, which really set us up for a day of running around, exploring and having touristic fun.
I know we hear ‘breakfast is the most important meal of the day’ but I never used to practice this; like most of us I would skip breakfast and carry on with my hectic morning as usual. But this meal sets us up for the whole day, it provides the body and brain with fuel after an overnight fast – hence the name, breaking the fast.
Since starting gyming a year ago regular meals have been vital for my progress. For the first time ever I depend on breakfast to start my day and without it I genuinely feel my concentration slipping. It provides me with the energy I need to kick ass on a daily basis ☺
So here we have it, one of the nicest breakkies team suri have tucked into.
