Leather, stripes and neon lights.

Its official, the chill is definitely settling in! Three quarter length sleeves and leather fit the bill for the occasional outings in London. Strips are my fail-safe, prints and patterns are so temperamental in fashion, but the stripe has a longevity that makes it an ideal fall wardrobe staple. What do you all have planned for this bank holiday weekend? My to do list consists of; drawing, pinning (check my boards out) and possibly poking my head around Notting hill carnival!

Roses and fringing

Before this Autumn chill starts to creep up on us I’m maxing out on this kimono trend. They honestly are the best transitional cover-ups, especially with this on off weather we have in London. I’m sure you read plenty about UK weather, but it seriously is a challenge to dress for the day especially when you start early, at 6am there is usually a bitter chill in the air, by midday it heats up so you end up stripping off all the layers, late afternoon we have showers; all the layers go back on, then by 5-6pm the rush hour home is very stuffy, layers back off. You get the idea, four seasons in one day basically!
But like I mentioned in my previous kimono post, these beauties can be folded up and fitted into bags with ease. This kimono sits well with the whole festival inspired look, I have never been to a festival before but I do love the boho chic fringing you always see girls wearing. The fringed and contrast edges were the features that drew me to it, great relaxed shape and effortless to wear.

Shoreditch Stroll

Saturday’s were made for strolling; this weekend I was in East London, good ol’ Shoreditch high street it never fails to inspire me. I always leave with a truckload of ideas for illustrations, paintings, shoot ideas even clothing DIY ideas. The diversity of street art is great, there are a couple of graffiti tours you can go on, or just have a gander in the alleys yourself, every corner has something special.

Laced Up

At the matchbox height of 5ft 1’’ I have never really ventured into the world of midi length skirts and dresses, I had this misconception I would look even shorter, but after wearing that Aztec midi in Spain I loved the way it complimented my shape, with a little heel I realised I didn’t look as short as I imagined I would. I wore this lace and leopard combo in the city on the weekend; we went to go see Stomp (hands down the best theatrical performance I have seen in London).
I very rarely wear white (mainly because I can never keep it clean) but this midi was one of my exceptions, beautiful lace in a classic cut. The cropped top lace is much finer, very fitted with a sheer back panel; I really liked the scalloped edge on the waistline too.
I do love a monochrome outfit and the automatic chicness it exudes, I would love to have the dedication to narrow my wardrobe down to black white and grey but I’m too fickle the second I see a vibrant colour I’m drawn to it. Maybe I can work towards a monochrome wardrobe with accent colours. That sound like a happy medium I can commit to!
