Thinking outside the box.
Thinking outside the box.
A phrase we have heard one too many times before, a phrase I actually find ridiculously frustrating to apply when told to do so. I only think outside the box unconsciously, I only experiment when I’m completely in tune with what I am doing, because when I’m fully focused I don’t even have the capacity to think of limitations or boxes.
I swear by the philosophy of not to overthink things; the unnecessary stress is not needed!
Change your environment.
If you have a list of goals in mind make sure your environment is set up to encourage you, make it work for you not against you. A surrounding should positively contribute to motivating you, by removing distractions the temptation to waste time is reduced. So it could be something as small as decluttering, organising your area, introducing more sunlight into the room or even moving your workouts from indoors to outdoors, whatever the factors may be pinpoint them and address them. Don’t fall into the trap of using them as excuses that hold you back.
Practice being open-minded.
With the state of the world and the ever changing opinions around us, being open minded is needed more now than ever. Being prejudice doesn’t work, it doesn’t make the world go round; acceptance, empathy and love does. If you want to stimulate new ideas and think outside the box you must allow for a different way of thinking to flow. Address things you could have overlooked, consider other points of views, experiment with your process and keep in mind that mistakes are simply re-routes. Don’t be afraid to fail, embrace the changes these setbacks create and try again. A defeated attitude doesn’t get very far, a curious, determined and creative one will surely stumble upon something new, that’s the magic of serendipity!
When the going gets tough the tough get going.
Wait, what? What does that even mean? I was just feeling fancy so I’ll keep that heading. But my last point is based on our perception of tough times.
Do you ever recall saying ‘I can’t do this, I can’t carry on, life’s over, woe is me’ or something along those lines? Well I’d like to congratulate you 1) for being alive 2) actually reading this far down. *I truly appreciate it*
My point from babbling is that tough times do not last. Nothing worth having happens overnight. Everything is work in progress, if you feel defeated it’s very unsettling, so for that reason continue to push your boundaries, carry on experimenting, of course naturally you will encounter some setbacks but resolve and work through those trials and tribulations. This is life!
These are minor glitches in the grand scheme of things, what determines our success is our attitude towards the mini ‘failures’ Outwork them, outgrow them and change those weaknesses into strengths!

Happy Earth Day
As a world this week we have claimed a mini victory, two days ago the Indian government passed a law to ban animal testing on soaps and detergents, protecting rabbits, mice and guinea pigs. This makes me so happy, after all who are we as humans to play god when it is unnecessary to cause this kind of harm to other living beings.
Since owning my little ball of joy called Jambu (a Maltese and bichon fris mix) I have become even more attached to animals. I rarely used to eat meat so I decided to cut it out of my diet for good a couple of years ago, fish has always been a no no because I can’t stomach the smell! At the moment I’m on a mission to wane myself off dairy and then I will know whole heartedly I am trying my best to contribute to the wellbeing of other animals.
It takes time to right our wrongs, but I now know eating meat and dairy is not a path I want to go down. When something that causes such harm and pain to others is avoidable it should stay that way.
On the topic of nature and all things beautiful today is National Earth Day!
It’s an annual event on which day events worldwide are held to demonstrate support for environmental protection. After all this Earth doesn’t belong to us, it was here long before us and still will be here once we are gone.
You don’t have to get up and do anything out of the ordinary to contribute to Earth Day, it is something as small as recycling, walking instead of taking the car or even using tote bags for your grocery shopping instead of plastic bags. All these small acts practised daily will help our Earth and give a promising future for those using it once we have gone.
On the weekend Gurp’s and I visited the Barbican conservatory to have a wander and feel like children again. I am so thankful to have natural resources readily available to visit like this one, I find it so refreshing to see, it’s like brain food for me, I’m very much anti-technology and try to keep electrical goods usage to a minimum. The further I go with this blog post, the more I think I sound like a hippie!
Jokes aside though, I think once in a while it’s good to pick up and leave worries behind and visit places like this, house chores are always there, go out and do something that excites you, after all we know this saying all too well ‘life’s too short’
I’m working on myself to be the best version of me I can, to be caring towards other living beings and kind to everyone I come across. Thank you for reading!

Carpark chronicles
Here’s a little something Natali Tari and I cooked up last weekend. You can never go wrong with a baggy shirt and jeans combo : )
This past week I’ve been busy inking away images from Men’s Fashion Week and Couture Week! If you click here you can see a handful of images I have uploaded to my illustration insta, there have definitely been a fair few highlights which I’ll share in an art post this week, but feel free to check it out. I also post odd bits and bobs on my Snapchat so you can see my creative process. (Snapchat name Mitika Suri)

A new day
We knew we wanted to get away for the holidays, we just didn’t have a plan. Growing up in an Indian family meant Christmas wasn’t on the top of our festival list. Christmas day in my household is celebrated by wrapping up dog presents and watching Jambu ( our Maltese/Bichon fris mix) open them to our amusement.
Half way through Christmas day Gurpreet and I decided to try our luck on a last minute break away, we found a deal for Florida packed our bags and flew out the next morning. Basking in 30 degrees we thoroughly enjoyed a week out. Having had plenty of time off from all media outlets, our 9-5 jobs and general commotion that goes on in December.
I’m looking forward to jumping into the deep end for 2016.
I am currently in the process of signing onto agencies for artist representation, this is something I’ve wanted to pursue for many years, but just haven’t. My first project has been creating branding for a Boutique Hair salon in the states! I’m looking forward to seeing my artwork on products. I definitely feel it’s about time!
Here’s an outfit you’ve all seen before (here) Chasing the sun was one of my many highlights for the new year’s. I hope you all had a wonderful break, let’s make 2016 one to remember : )
