Getting used to being pregnant.

Admittedly the first few months of pregnancy got me down, it was physically and mentally exhausting, not to mention we were in the process of moving homes and my grandfather passed away on the day I was admitted into hospital for Hyperemesis Grvidarum so the stress of everything came all at once.
Unfortunate, but that’s just how things pan out sometimes.
After getting my head around the whole situation I started to enjoy it. I felt comfortable in my own skin again, I accepted these changes were temporary and at the end of it my body will produce a tiny human.
The further I got into my pregnancy I kept thinking about time and how it wont wait for anyone.

As a young woman who has dedicated herself whole heartedly to education, working and being a financially stable individual, I can relate to all the other ladies who push aside the idea of bearing a child until they have satisfied all their career goals.
After all, if we work just as hard as our counterparts why should we give it all up in an instant? Expected to bear the struggles of growing a child and still continue with life without any special allowances.
I guess that’s just the biological lottery women lost out on when we were created.
My main point here is, even though there is that inner battle in most women on when they will or wont be ready, it’s almost a gamble.
It’s a gamble because we are already born with a finite number of eggs.

‘Women are born with approximately two million eggs in their ovaries, but about eleven thousand of them die every month prior to puberty. As a teenager, a womanhas only three hundred thousand to four hundred thousand remaining eggs, and from that point on, approximately one thousand eggs are destined to die each month.’

But what if these statistics don’t run true for you, what if you are the minority where you waited too long?
It’s unfair to say the least, but if you have a partner, see a future with them and dream of having a family, my advice would be don’t wait.
We are never ready for anything until thrown in the deep end. Pregnancy isn’t an easy task, nor is raising the children but the sooner it’s done, I believe the easier it will be.

‘’ I felt like I may not get opportunities to do this ever again, so it’s about time—it’s a terrible thing, I think, in life to wait until you’re ready. I have this feeling now that actually no one is ever ready to do anything. There’s almost no such thing as ready. There’s only now ‘’ - Hugh Laurie

One of the wonders of being a woman is even after bearing the task of growing and raising children, we are still capable of fitting back into society and can achieve goals and unimaginable achievements. That being said, it’s a shame we’re still seen as secondary in many aspects of life.

Happy Earth Day

As a world this week we have claimed a mini victory, two days ago the Indian government passed a law to ban animal testing on soaps and detergents, protecting rabbits, mice and guinea pigs. This makes me so happy, after all who are we as humans to play god when it is unnecessary to cause this kind of harm to other living beings.
Since owning my little ball of joy called Jambu (a Maltese and bichon fris mix) I have become even more attached to animals. I rarely used to eat meat so I decided to cut it out of my diet for good a couple of years ago, fish has always been a no no because I can’t stomach the smell! At the moment I’m on a mission to wane myself off dairy and then I will know whole heartedly I am trying my best to contribute to the wellbeing of other animals.
It takes time to right our wrongs, but I now know eating meat and dairy is not a path I want to go down. When something that causes such harm and pain to others is avoidable it should stay that way.

On the topic of nature and all things beautiful today is National Earth Day!
It’s an annual event on which day events worldwide are held to demonstrate support for environmental protection. After all this Earth doesn’t belong to us, it was here long before us and still will be here once we are gone.
You don’t have to get up and do anything out of the ordinary to contribute to Earth Day, it is something as small as recycling, walking instead of taking the car or even using tote bags for your grocery shopping instead of plastic bags. All these small acts practised daily will help our Earth and give a promising future for those using it once we have gone.

On the weekend Gurp’s and I visited the Barbican conservatory to have a wander and feel like children again. I am so thankful to have natural resources readily available to visit like this one, I find it so refreshing to see, it’s like brain food for me, I’m very much anti-technology and try to keep electrical goods usage to a minimum. The further I go with this blog post, the more I think I sound like a hippie!
Jokes aside though, I think once in a while it’s good to pick up and leave worries behind and visit places like this, house chores are always there, go out and do something that excites you, after all we know this saying all too well ‘life’s too short’
I’m working on myself to be the best version of me I can, to be caring towards other living beings and kind to everyone I come across. Thank you for reading!

Burgundy

Ok ok, hear me out, this look was a sure hit in my mind I envisioned it to look smart and chic.
I pulled the jumper over my head, slapped on my hat and made a run for the door to catch the 6:50am train to work. I only realised once I reached work that I looked 10 years my senior and could pass off for a girl in a private high school uniform.
Not really the look I was going for, but obviously I had to roll with it. After work hours I love to make the most of the city, Natalie and I went to the British Museum, they have late night admission every Friday. I absolutely love what this city has to offer, there is inspiration in every corner. As previously mentioned I am on a mission to recycle my wardrobe and utilise what I have to its fullest. I have worn the boots, skirt, hat and bag previously, the jumper is a newbie but in a colour that always makes a regular appearance during the autumn months.

Sunset Blues

For as long as I can remember I have been a sun child, I walk on the sunny side of the street and sit in the rays shining through the windows; there is something about the feeling of heat on my skin and hair that energises me. So the past weekend in London has been like a little slice of heaven with our Indian Summer; this is a quick post we shot just before sunset with the little light peeking through rooftops and trees, to show you this coat and its stunning colour.
I do love a well thought out pastel palette I feel it complements the pink in my skin tone. New Look have a beautiful selection this season.
This week I’m working on some new artwork, stepping a little outside my comfort zone with it but that’s the only way to grow! I post most rants, revelations and work in progress shots on twitter.
